Dual Ceremonies and Sesshin at Open Gate Zendo

On May 21, 2011, two ceremonies were conducted at the Open Gate Zendo during a weekend sesshin. Beau Vandendolder received dual ordination in the Order of the Boundless Way and the Order of Hsu Yun, receiving the Dharma name Yin Jing. Yin Jing lives in Portland Oregon where he works as an acupuncturist and herbalist, and teaches meditation, yoga, and qigong.

Fa Lohng Shakya and Fa Dong Shakya receieved Dharma Transmission and the title of Senior Dharma Teacher in the Order of Hsu Yun from Chuan Zhi Shakya, Abbot of the Order of Hsu Yun. Fa Lohng is co-founder of the Order of the Boundless Way and resident teacher at Open Gate Zendo. He was first ordained in 1974 and has studied Zen under the guidance of Zen teachers in the Japanese, Korean, and Chinese traditions. He serves on the Sangha Council for the Order of Hsu Yun as well as the board of directors.
Fa Dong Shakya serves on the Sangha Council for the Order of Hsu Yun as well as the board of directors. He was ordained in the Order of Hsu Yun at Fa Yuan Si in Beijing in March 2010. He has been a student of Chan and other Buddhist traditions since 1966. In China, he founded and leads the Empty Cloud Chan group located near Beijing.
